Play the win condition
Do not inherit Town or Mafia priorities automatically. Ask what board state moves your personal objective closer to completion and which faction should remain alive to make that possible.
Claim flexibility
Neutral roles often survive by occupying believable claim space without becoming the first elimination target. Chronological consistency matters more than choosing the cleverest role name.
Balance the factions
Neutral Killing and Chaos roles can benefit from keeping Town and Mafia close enough that neither can focus completely on them. A kill that looks strong immediately can be bad if it gives another faction uncontested parity.

- Survivor needs to remain alive at the end; spending a vest is a means to that outcome, not the objective itself.
- Executioner needs the assigned target hanged. A night kill on the target changes the plan rather than satisfying it.
- Jester needs its own hanging. Being killed at night does not count.
- Pirate needs two successful plunders. After that, its incentives are different from a faction still fighting to survive.
- Completing the infection network transforms Plaguebearer into Pestilence; transformation alone is not the role’s victory. Remaining opponents still have to be defeated.
A Neutral claim can be an honest description of a private goal or a cover for another role. Ask how the player’s targets and votes advance that claimed goal, then verify what can be verified.
Guardian Angel

Keep an assigned target alive, with two protections that can also be used after death.
Guardian Angel wins through the survival of an assigned target. That target is not automatically Town, and the Guardian Angel’s own death does not remove every way to help. The role has two uses of its protection and purge ability, including uses from the grave; watching over the target can work through jailing.
Choose protection around the target’s actual danger instead of spending both uses merely to prove the claim. A Guardian Angel claim explains an incentive, not the target’s alignment. Town should still investigate the protected player and count how the pair affects an endgame vote.
If the target dies, Guardian Angel becomes a Survivor without bulletproof vests. This changes the plan from keeping one other player alive to surviving personally. Update your claim and will when that happens; continuing to promise protection after the transformation creates a misleading action history.
Juggernaut

Grow stronger through kills, gaining more frequent attacks and later combat upgrades.
Juggernaut starts with Basic defense and an attack schedule tied to full moons. Kills unlock stronger powers, including attacking every night, rampaging attacks and eventually an attack that bypasses protective effects. Basic defense is a starting ability, not a reward that must first be unlocked. Read the current role card’s unlocked powers before planning a night; the starting role and an advanced Juggernaut are not equivalent threats.
Early survival matters because a missed or impossible kill delays your growth. Compare likely defense, Town protection and visitor traffic rather than choosing only the loudest player. Once rampage is available, the people visiting a target become part of the risk calculation for everyone involved.
Town should track the possible progression from deaths and claims without assuming every unexplained kill belongs to the same attacker. Identify the role and use the trial system before its night threat becomes harder to contain. A successful defense on an earlier night does not guarantee that the same protection answers a later upgraded attack.
