🧠 Town of Salem strategy

Town of Salem Investigator Results

Complete base-game and Coven Investigator groups, renamed roles, altered results and examples of how to test a compatible claim.

An Investigator learns a group of possible roles. A matching claim is compatible with the result; it is not a confirmation of that role.

The left column covers the base-game role pool; the right column includes the Coven expansion. “Classic” here identifies the base rules, not a guarantee that every listed role can spawn in the fixed Classic mode. Always read the selected lobby list too.

Older tables call Tavern Keeper “Escort” and Bootlegger “Consort.” Those are renamed roles, not extra possibilities. Juggernaut shares the Lookout / Forger / Coven Leader group in Coven; older descriptions with a unique Juggernaut result predate patch 3.2.5.

When the group can be misleading

  • Framing: a framed target can appear in the Framer / Vampire / Jester group. A frame may have been placed on an earlier night.
  • Dousing: a doused target can appear with Bodyguard / Godfather / Arsonist, with Crusader added in Coven.
  • Hexing: a hex can produce the Framer / Vampire / Jester / Hex Master group.
  • Disguising: a Mafia role’s investigative identity can be changed. Compare the result with other evidence before closing a slot.
  • Redirection: a transport or control can make the intended target and resolved target different people.

Use the role list to narrow a result

Suppose a base-game check returns Doctor, Disguiser or Serial Killer and the target claims Doctor. The result permits that claim. Now check which of the three roles can exist in the lobby, whether the claimed heal fits the night and whether a visit report supplies independent support. “Doctor fits” is the first step of the solve.

Test an Investigator claimant fairly

Ask for the night, target and original group before revealing the role claim you expect. Someone who announces an exact role needs to explain why the other roles were excluded. A real Investigator can give the group even when the broader match remains uncertain.

Preserve earlier groups in the will. Later deaths narrow a result only when they exhaust the legal slots for a role; a dead Doctor does not exclude a second Doctor in All Any. A forged graveyard role can also distort the count. Mark any conclusion that depends on an unverified death record.
