Ordered attacks and Godfather succession
- When the Godfather gives an order, the Mafioso performs the attack.
- If the Godfather dies, the Mafioso can become the next Godfather under classic Mafia rules.
- The Mafioso shares night communication with the faction.
Preserve the faction’s next kill
Early game
Follow the kill plan but watch how your visits can be seen by Spy and Lookout. A predictable path to every obvious victim can expose you even if your day claim is otherwise strong.
Mid game
Prepare for promotion before it happens. If the Godfather is under pressure, your fake claim and remaining night plan should already work in a world where you become the leader.
Endgame
At parity, reliability matters more than style. Avoid unnecessary risky visits or day pushes that expose the player Mafia needs to execute the final attack.
Make the cover fit your visits
Choose a fake role whose visit pattern can survive your kill history. Non-visiting covers may conflict with Lookout/Spy evidence; visiting covers need plausible targets that do not mirror every Mafia death.
Compare visits before and after promotion
Town should examine who repeatedly visited or interacted with victims and who inherited more assertive leadership after the Godfather died. The promotion chain can explain abrupt changes in kill behavior.
Important interactions
- Godfather selects the faction target while Mafioso often executes the visit.
- Lookout can expose a visitor to the kill target, although that visit still needs role interpretation.
- Spy Mafia-visit logs can reveal a repeating pattern around deaths and support roles.
Decision example: mafioso target choice
The Godfather is on trial and likely to die tonight or tomorrow. If your public claim collapses the moment you inherit the kill, Mafia loses continuity. A Mafioso should keep a believable target history before promotion, not improvise after becoming the faction leader.
Common mistakes
- Building a fake will that cannot explain your visiting pattern.
- Failing to plan for Godfather promotion.
- Taking unnecessary public risks when Mafia’s win condition depends on keeping the killer alive one more night.
