Check the identity that changes the kill plan
Early game
Check players whose role identity would change the Mafia plan: ambiguous power claims, quiet slots that might be protective, or players likely to become confirmed. Exact knowledge is strongest when it changes target priority.
Mid game
Use results to design cover stories. Knowing that a player is Doctor, for example, tells Mafia both whom they may be protecting and which investigative group a fake claim must survive.
Endgame
As the lobby shrinks, exact role knowledge can solve parity math. Identify which player can stop the final kill, which vote can swing Town, and whether your own public claim still fits the remaining role space.
Avoid leaking exact knowledge through a cover
A Consigliere usually needs a fake public role. Build that claim from information available to Town; revealing implausibly exact knowledge is a common way to expose yourself.
Ask how the claimant knew that role
Town should be cautious when a claimant repeatedly “guesses” exact roles from evidence that should only support broad possibilities. Precision can be a tell when it arrives before public confirmation.

- Investigator and Consigliere both gather role information, making Investigator a natural but risky cover if your exact knowledge leaks into the fake log.
- Spy faction visits can correlate Mafia movement with the players whose roles were learned.
- Godfather kill planning becomes stronger when Consigliere identifies protection, control and vote-power targets.
Decision example: consigliere target choice
A player has claimed Town Protective but has not specified Doctor or Bodyguard. Your exact check returns Bodyguard. Mafia can now avoid a protected target, anticipate a possible counterattack and build claims that do not accidentally force that Bodyguard into an easy counterclaim.
Common mistakes
- Checking obvious already-confirmed roles instead of unresolved high-value players.
- Turning exact private knowledge into an impossibly precise public read.
- Failing to communicate results to the Mafia before a teammate commits to a conflicting fake claim.
