Chat is an information channel, not just persuasion
Town of Salem is a multiplayer deception game, but the best communication is not the loudest. Every message should either publish evidence, ask a question that can change the vote, establish a timestamped claim, or coordinate a safe next action. Messages that do none of those mostly create noise.

Public claims create accountability
A public claim gives the whole lobby a statement that can be compared later with the graveyard, visits and night results. That is why a concise claim often creates more value than a long private explanation. If information affects the current vote, ask whether keeping it private is still helping your faction.
Whispers: useful but expensive
Private communication can protect sensitive information or coordinate a test, but it also removes context from the public record. Other players see that a private exchange happened without necessarily knowing its content. Use whispers when secrecy has a clear benefit, not as the default way to solve the board.
Timing is part of the claim
Record when a player first stated their role, target or result. A story created before a relevant death is usually more constrained than one invented after the graveyard opens a convenient slot. This timestamp logic is central to Town of Salem scumreading and Town of Salem fake claim analysis.
Readable information wins faster
Use player numbers, night numbers and one fact per line. If a lobby has to decode your paragraph while a trial timer runs, correct information can still fail operationally. Strong Town of Salem communication makes verification cheap.
Do not confuse confidence with truth
Both Town and evil players can sound certain. Prefer statements that can be checked: target, result, visit, vote, role-list slot or public ability. Tone is a secondary read after the mechanical record, not a substitute for it.
How to whisper, and what remains public
Use the chat command /w [player number] [message] to address another living player, for example /w 7 Please post your N2 target. The private exchange itself is visible to the lobby. Blackmailer can read whispers, and a revealed Mayor cannot send or receive them.
A useful whisper asks for a specific check without broadcasting a full targeting plan. If its answer resolves today’s accusation, move the relevant conclusion into public chat so the rest of Town can evaluate the vote.
